Neighbourhood Community Centres

Monday, 9 November 2020

Neighbourhood Community Centres provide fantastic opportunities for social connection and support within the local community.  They recognise that social cohesion and connectivity are vital and valuable within a community based environment and provide an avenue for human contact and interaction that may not already exist.  Utilising a wealth of knowledge, experience and expertise they promote and operate a variety of programs and activities that can engage a diverse range of individuals within our community.  In today’s world, people can feel isolated and alone, and neighbourhood centres can provide a vital and important setting for human contact and inclusion.

Your local Neighbourhood Community Centre can provide an assortment of activities including:

  • Discussion groups
  • Art and craft groups and markets
  • Computer know-how
  • Community garden
  • How to classes: e.g.: “How to change a tyre “
  • Meditation and relaxation classes
  • Tai Chi classes for health and relaxation
  • Walking groups
  • Tie Dying
  • Artisan bead making
  • Laptop loan service
  • Introduction to money – budgeting advice
